Bio:  Prof. Dam-Mazzi was born and raised in Peru; she has traveled extensively and experienced first-hand the challenges inherent to the resettlement process.  Her work with the Canadian Centre for Diversity has given her a unique perspective from which to offer her students a greater appreciation for cultural diversity and the Spanish language.

She teaches first and second-year Spanish (SPAN 1020, 2020) and participates in development and supervision of the tutorial programs for those courses.

She is a board member of the Kuska Canada-Peru NGO, Hispanic Cultural Society of Nova Scotia, a member of the Association of Hispanists of the Atlantic Provinces and a supporter of the Canadian Centre for Diversity. Her interests include the study of cultural identities, Latin American cinema, Latin American literature and sports.
